Jan Vogel, TRIG Project Coordinator
Jan Vogel has been focused on education for over the last forty years. Starting out at the Calhoun Area Career Center as a student, she then began working as a teacher for Early Childhood where she had the best of both worlds, preschool and high school students. She left the classroom to be a placement coordinator, career education coordinator for Calhoun county schools, grants coordinator, then principal all at the same career center in Battle Creek, Michigan. After 35 years at the Career Center, Jan was given the opportunity to work at the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) as an Educator on Loan in two areas, Education Technology and Career and Technical Education.
While at MDE she worked in Career & Technology Education on the CTE Curriculum project, while at the same time, working in the Education Technology area under the direction of Bruce Umpstead. During this time the vision of technology for Michigan was formed around 5-4-3-2-1. The year as Educator on Loan grew to working as a contractor in both areas for the next five years.
Currently Jan works through MAISA as the Project Coordinator for the Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant. She has been able to participate in this exciting time and to watch the vision of technology in Michigan grow from 5-4-3-2-1, to a reality and do it in collaborative manner.
Jan has a BS in Elementary Education/Emphasis Early Childhood from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University.
